Remember

Remember

Does the next generation know God? Do they know His might and the glorious deeds He has done? Do they know God has sent the only rescuer from sin – Jesus?

The only way they will know these things is if we tell them and we teach them. Why do we do so? So, they will set their hope in Him, not forget what He has done and obey His commands.

Lesson 1: Remember who God is
(Isaiah 46:9)

The Hebrew names of God help us know who God is and remembering who God is changes the way we live our lives.

Lesson 2: Remember what God has done
(Deuteronomy 4:9)

Joshua made the people build a monument out of rocks to remember what God had done at the Jordan River. When we remember what God has done, we can tell others so they can remember too.

Lesson 3: Remember to fear the Lord
(Proverbs 3:7)

We know that fire is powerful. We can benefit from its warmth and comfort. But fire can also be dangerous and destructive so it is wise to be respectful of it. In the same way we are not afraid of God but we know how powerful God is and so we respect, honour and are in awe of who He is.

Lesson 4: Remember the greatest commandment
(Deuteronomy 6:5)

Many things are competing for our love. Loving God above anything else, with all our hearts, soul and strength, is the greatest commandment. When we do this we are saying “God, You are more important than anything or anyone else.”

Lesson 5: Remember God remembers us
(Psalm 136:23)

God remembered Noah while he was on the ark with all those animals waiting obediently for the waters to recede. And God remembers you too!

Lesson 6: Remember to take action
(Acts 20:35)

Jesus said that it is more blessed to give than to receive.  When we take action, the needs of others will be met and they will come to know Jesus and give thanks and glory to God.

Lesson 7: Remember what Jesus did
(1 John 1:9)

Remember how it was before Jesus came and did what He did? Breaking bread helps us remember what Jesus did for us.

Lesson 8: Remember Jesus will
(Matthew 24:44)

Jesus promised that He will come back but that He will come when we least expect it so we need to be ready and faithful!

Lesson 9: How do we remember?
(John 14:26)

We need to do whatever we can to remember all that we have learnt about God, who He is and what He has done. And He wants us to tell others so that they can remember too. The Holy Spirit helps us to remember and to tell others.
