Lesson 1: Who is Elijah? (John 14:15)
Ever heard the saying “Don’t shoot the messenger”? Well, Elijah was a prophet, a messenger of God and often his message was not very well received. Still Elijah was obedient and brought God’s message. God wants us to pass on His message too.
Lesson 2: Elijah speaks up and God protects him (Isaiah 41:10)
Would you like to be someone who has to take a message to an evil king? Especially a message telling him that he is doing wrong? It must have been very scary for Elijah to do but he did it anyway and God sent ravens to look after him.
Lesson 3: Elijah obeys and God provides (Luke 11:28)
Sometimes our faith and obedience gets tested and we need to trust God even when things seem impossible. Elijah and the widow trusted God and saw His supernatural provision first-hand. God’s ways are always better than our ways.
Lesson 4: Elijah has faith and God does miracles (Ephesians 3:20)
Miracles are evidence that God is real. We need to have faith in all circumstances so that God can show His power and others will see and believe in Him too.
Lesson 5: Elijah is brave and God shows his power (Isaiah 43:10-11)
Elijah challenged king Ahab’s fake gods to a fire making contest. Of course we know who’s going to win but Elijah had to show the people and Ahab that their gods were fake and that God is Lord, there is no other Saviour.
Lesson 6: Elijah prays and God answers (James 5: 16-18)
We know for sure that God was using Elijah to pass on His message to others and we know for sure that God heard Elijah’s prayers. But sometimes, like us, Elijah had to keep on asking, trusting and waiting for God to answer.
Lesson 7: Elijah is weak and God helps (2 Corinthians 12:9-10)
Just like Elijah, we all feel weak and afraid at times. God wants us to come to Him in these moments because He is always faithful to help us and show His power.
Lesson 8: Elijah passed the cloak and God gave the power (Acts 1:8)
Elisha had asked God for power and authority to do great things for God. This was not something Elijah could give him, he would have to wait and see if it was God’s plan. God gives us all power through the Holy Spirit to do great things for Him too.
